Overview

Got a Guy Home Network ("Guy," "we," "us," or "our") operates hiimguy.com and the Guy SMS service. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it.

We built this product to help neighbors share trusted contractors privately. Your data is never sold, never used for advertising, and never shared outside the platform without your explicit consent.

We do not use your information for advertising. We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not share your contractor notes, prices paid, or personal messages with anyone outside your explicitly chosen network.

How We Share Information

Within Your Network

Information you add to a group is visible to other members of that group. Your name is attached to your recommendations — this is intentional and core to how trust works in Got a Guy. Other members see your first name and street or neighborhood, never your phone number unless you choose to share it directly.

With Contractors

When you initiate contact with a contractor through Guy's relay system, the contractor receives your job description and general location. They do not receive your phone number unless both parties explicitly opt in to number sharing.

With Service Providers

We use the following third-party services to operate Got a Guy:

Each provider processes only the data necessary to perform their specific function. We have data processing agreements in place with each.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of our users or the public.

Business Transfer

If Got a Guy Home Network is acquired or merges with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via SMS before your data is subject to a materially different privacy policy.

Data Retention

Your catalog and account data is retained as long as your account is active. If you text STOP or request deletion, we delete your personal data within 30 days. Aggregate, anonymized market pricing data derived from your submissions may be retained indefinitely.

Message logs are retained for 90 days for debugging and support purposes, then deleted.

Billing records are retained for 7 years as required by financial regulations.

Family Care Mode data — a parent's contractor catalog shared with a child — is deleted when either party requests it or closes their account.

Children's Privacy

Got a Guy is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at help@hiimguy.com.

Security

We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted data storage on AWS, TLS for all data in transit, and access controls that limit who on our team can see your data. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable precautions to protect your information.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy we will notify you via SMS before the changes take effect. Continued use of Guy after notification constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
